Statement of Faith
1. We believe that there is one God, the Creator of all things, eternally existing, and revealing Himself to us in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, Deuteronomy 6:4)
2. We believe that Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, is God in the flesh, fully God and fully man. (Matthew 1:23, I Timothy 2:5, Colossians 2:9)
3. We believe that the Bible is the word of God, fully and verbally inspired by God through human authors. We regard it as an accurate, absolute authority in all matters of doctrine and practice. (II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21)
4. We believe that every person is a sinner by nature, because of Adam’s sin, and that sin has marred all aspects of man’s personality. (Romans 5:12, Romans 3:23, Jeremiah 17:9)
5. We believe in the reality of Hell as a place of eternal judgment, and as an expression of God’s wrath toward all sin. (Romans 1:18, Revelation 1:18, Matthew 13:41-42)
6. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only solution to the sin problem, and through Him alone can man be reconciled to God. (Acts 4:12, John 14:6, II Corinthians 5:18-19)
7. We believe that Christ died as our substitute, making an atonement for our sins with his blood. (Isaiah 53:5-6, I John 1:7, I Peter 1:18-19)
8. We believe that Jesus was raised from the dead bodily and visibly, and ascended to the right hand of God in Heaven. (Mark 16:19, Acts 10:39-41, Ephesians 1:20)
9. We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace, and that men are justified by faith alone in the person and work of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Such faith is the basis for the new birth. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:24, Romans 5:1, Titus 3:56, John 3:3, I John 5:1, II Corinthians 5:17)
10. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person who indwells every believer, and imparts spiritual gifts to the body of Christ. (John 14:16-17, I Corinthians 12:4-11, Ephesians 4:30)
11. We believe that there is a bodily resurrection unto everlasting life for those who believe, and a bodily resurrection unto eternal punishment for the unsaved. (Daniel 12:2, Philippians 3:21, John 5:28-29, I Corinthians 15:42-44)
12. We believe that Satan is a real person who controls the world system, in opposition to God and His righteousness (John 14:30, Isaiah 14:12-17, II Corinthians 4:4, Matthew 4:1-11)
13. We believe in the personal, visible, and pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth. (Acts 1:11, Zechariah 14:4, Luke 21:27, Revelation 1:7) Note: by “millennial” we mean the 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth.
14. We believe that the church is the body and bride of Christ, over which Christ is the head. (Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:18, Revelation 19:7, Revelation 21.2)
15. We believe in the independent, self-government of the local church. (Acts 6:3, 31; 15:6,28)
16. We believe that Christians are called to a holy walk as priests and servants of the Lord. (I Peter 1:14-16, I Peter 2:5,9, Ephesians 4:22-24)
17. We believe in the eternal security of every true Christian. (Hebrews 7:25, John 10:28-29, Romans 8:38-39)
18. We believe that there are only two ordinances for the church: baptism by immersion, and the celebration of the Lord’s Table. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:36-39, Luke 22:19-20, I Corinthians 10:16, Acts 2:38)
