Small Groups
"Christian community is the final apologetic"
-Francis Schaeffer.
The way we as christians cultivate deep and meaningful relationships with others in the church and especially those who are new to the church and to faith is the great "argument" for true christianity. Jesus said as much when He said, "people will know you are my disciples if you love one another". At Cornerstone we believe it should be very difficult to stay disconnected and stagnant. We want everyone to find a place to belong, be supported, encouraged, challenged and loved on a deeper level than can be accomplished during an hour or two Sunday morning. Therefore we have embarked on a journey to cultivate a culture of small groups in our church hoping that everyone will take advantage of this opportunity. If you are interested in being a part of a small group please call the church office 209.274.4131 or email michael@cornerstoneione.org.
"Mac and Cheese Church"
Deuteronomy 15:11 - For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, 'You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.'
There are many in our community who are struggling financially often resulting in family hunger. In response to this community need, Cornerstone Church has joined with the Amador County Interfaith Food Bank by starting our MAC & CHEESE ministry. When Cornerstone attendees are purchasing their groceries, they commit to purchase two extra boxes of MAC & CHEESE for the monthly collections at church which are then distributed by the Interfaith Food Bank to struggling families. In August of 2011, the Interfaith Food Bank distributed food to 4,997 individuals in 1,862 families.
CorLOGO at Cornerstone
At Cornerstone Church our goal is to share the love of Christ with Ione. Therefore we have established this ministry for getting out into the community and meeting real needs of real people in Ione. CorLOGO stands for Cornerstone's Love and Good Deeds Ministry taken from Hebrews 10:25. As we see needs in the community our people get involved in meeting those needs. Whether it's cleaning up the property at a school or painting an elderly lady's house, it doesn't matter. The unique component of the CorLOGO ministry is that we don't want money to stop our people from getting out into the community, so we are going to help fund as many projects as we can.
