Youth Pastor Position

Cornerstone Church is committed to glorifying God by sharing the love of God with the community, making disciples, and helping people mature in Christ. Due to the unique challenges that young people face today we believe it is important to have a leader who is directly responsible for this. He is to work with the parents to disciple the students that are already believers and work with those students to bring their friends and neighbors to faith in Christ as well.

Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 depending on education and experience.

Full Job Description

Cornerstone Church Description:

Cornerstone Church is committed to preaching the Word of God in our church, the community, and the world through our support of International missions. Our church attendees are a blend of all ages. This includes retired professionals, young families, and mostly residents of Ione. Our leadership is comprised of a Lead Pastor, a Youth Pastor, and an Elder board.

Cornerstone Church’s two Sunday services are attended by an average of 150 people, including children. A live band, made up of congregation members, lead the church in songs of praise and worship during both services. The songs consist of contemporary songs as well as meaningful hymns. Our two Sunday services are held at 9:00am and 10:30am. Each service is approximately 70 minutes long with about 20 minutes of food and fellowship between services. Sunday School for the youth meets during our first service. Several times a year Cornerstone Church meets at a local park where we hold one large service where both church services can come and worship together.

Cornerstone provides nursery services for children up to age three for both Sunday services. We have a Children’s Program for children 3 years old up to 5th grade which begins after the family worship time in the main service. These classes are staffed by church volunteers under the charge of the Children’s Coordinator.

There are numerous small groups that meet throughout the week in various homes or at the church building. These small groups meet to study, meet needs, fellowship, pray and encourage. These groups meet on various days and times in order to make them accessible.

Our church hosts a Sunday evening youth group, ages sixth through twelfth grade, with an approximate attendance of 20 students. There are approximately six loving and qualified volunteer staff that assist the Youth Pastor in leading this group. There are various events throughout the year, including a Summer Camp and Winter Camp for the High School age students.

Community Description:

Ione, California is a historic, fast growing, rural city located at the eastern edge of the San Joaquin Valley. At about 300’ above sea level, the city enjoys a warm-summer Mediterranean climate within convenient driving distances to Tahoe, the Bay Area, and other recreational destinations. The city hosts many family-friendly events such as parades, vendor events, and an annual carnival. The official census states the city has a population of about 8,000 people. In reality, about 4,000 of those residents are living in Mule Creek State Prison, a major employer of the city. In the past 10 years the city has grown in population due to continued building in the Castle Oaks Golf Course area and a new development at the southeast corner of the city. There is a large retirement population as well as a large percentage of under-18 population, as the 2010 census indicates approximately 1,100 youth and children residing here.

The commercial enterprises in the city consists of a couple of gas stations, several restaurants, a grocery store, and various other small businesses. More options for shopping are found 10 miles to the east near the cities of Jackson and Sutter Creek, including WalMart, Lowe’s, Staples, and several grocery stores. Major shopping at places like Kohl’s, Costco, Home Depot, and those kinds of outlets can be found within about aa 30-minute drive. Currently the city has an elementary school and a middle school, with high school students attending one of the two high schools in the county in Jackson or Sutter Creek. However, the school district is in the process of moving the middle school to Jackson, leaving us with only the elementary school in the city. Churches in town, other than ours, include Catholic, Methodist, Assembly of God, and LDS.
